What is a campervan electrical certificate?
A campervan electrical certificate, commonly called an Electrical Warrant of Fitness (EWOF), confirms that your campervan’s 230V electrical system is safe and compliant with New Zealand standards (AS/NZS 3001). It’s required for campervans that connect to mains power at campsites, holiday parks, or events.
Is an EWOF legally required for campervans in NZ?
Yes. If your campervan plugs into mains electricity, it must have a current EWOF. Many holiday parks and campgrounds will not allow connection to power without one.
How often does a campervan need an electrical certificate?
A campervan EWOF is valid for 4 years.
You’ll also need a new EWOF if:
The campervan is sold
The campervan is hired out
Electrical modifications or repairs are completed
