Do tiny homes need an EWOF in NZ?
Yes. If a tiny home or relocatable cabin connects to 230V mains power, it must have a valid EWOF.
Is a relocatable cabin EWOF different from a tiny home EWOF?
No. The inspection and compliance standards are the same. The terminology differs, but both must meet AS/NZS 3001 requirements.
How often does a cabin need an EWOF?
An EWOF is valid for 4 years. A new EWOF is also required if the unit is sold, relocated, or electrically modified.
Is a cabin EWOF the same as a Code of Compliance (CCC)?
No. An EWOF covers electrical safety only.
A CCC relates to building compliance under the Building Act.
How long does a cabin EWOF inspection take?
Most inspections take 45–90 minutes, depending on size and system complexity.
Can Alectrics inspect my cabin on-site?
Yes. We offer mobile EWOF inspections across Hamilton and Waikato. Travel fees may apply.
